Avalon is a novel told in the style of the great American naturalists gone wild.

Set in the 1930s, it tells the story of a young musician, Bill Livingstone, who spends his youth growing up on the island of Catalina, then seeks his fortunes in the clubs of Los Angeles. But Bill is drawn back home after his father, who still lives on the island, becomes ill. His experiences grow strange as he struggles to protect both his future and his past.

Avalon is funny, insightful, tragic, and odd.
